AutoZone Message Types

X12 846 – Inventory Inquiry

Message is used to send inventory information between customers and suppliers, and replaces the historical paper based version of this document. This is used by customers to inform their suppliers of their held inventory and stock levels.

X12 850 – Purchase Order

Purchasing organizations use EDI purchase orders to order services or goods to be shipped to a distribution center, a shop or end consumers.

X12 856 – Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN)

ANSI X12 856 messages are used to inform customers about deliveries shipped by the supplier. The information contains all relevant information referring the shipment.

X12 810 – Invoice

Automatically exchange invoicing information and to directly align the billings against the representative orders.

X12 997 – Acknowlegment

The ANSI X12 EDI 997 message acts as both a technical and functional acknowledgement for any ANSI X12 EDI message exchanged between suppliers and customers. As a technical response, an EDI 997 confirms the receipt and acceptance of the main message. It can also state the approval or rejection of the previously submitted interchange and a detailed list of errors as a functional response.
