AutoZone Message Types
X12 846 – Inventory Inquiry
Message is used to send inventory information between customers and suppliers, and replaces the historical paper based version of this document. This is used by customers to inform their suppliers of their held inventory and stock levels.
X12 850 – Purchase Order
Purchasing organizations use EDI purchase orders to order services or goods to be shipped to a distribution center, a shop or end consumers.

It can also state the approval or rejection of the previously submitted interchange and a detailed list of errors as a functional response.
